Hidden Blue Cave Vlore

The Secret Cave of Lloviz (Nezhaj) Bay

The Hidden Blue Cave is one of the most mysterious and less-known sea caves along the Karaburun Peninsula. Located inside Lloviz Bay, also known by some locals as Nezhaj Bay, this cave remains a true hidden gem of the Albanian Riviera.

Unlike larger and more accessible caves such as Haxhi Ali Cave, the Hidden Blue Cave offers a more adventurous and intimate experience.

Inside the Blue Cave near Vlore, visitors swim in glowing turquoise water beneath a rocky sea cave illuminated by natural light reflecting off the crystal-clear surface.

Where Is the Blue Cave Located?

The cave is situated inside Lloviz Bay (Nezhaj Bay) on the wild coastline of the Karaburun Peninsula. The bay itself is remote and accessible only by boat from Vlore. Because it is tucked between limestone cliffs and not clearly visible from a distance, many visitors pass by without even noticing its entrance.

How the Cave Was Discovered

The Hidden Blue Cave was not a historically famous landmark. It was discovered casually by divers, who were exploring the coastline and underwater formations of the Karaburun Marine Park.

What they found was a narrow entrance leading into a small chamber illuminated by intense blue reflections created by sunlight hitting the clear Ionian waters.

Since then, it has become a special stop for certain boat tours that explore hidden coastal formations.

Accessing the Cave – A Small Adventure

One of the most unique aspects of the Blue Cave is that boats cannot enter inside.

The entrance is narrow and low. To access it:

  • You need to bend slightly (crouch) to pass through the rocky opening.

  • After passing the entrance, the interior opens into a small, glowing blue chamber.

This physical access requirement makes the experience more adventurous compared to larger sea caves.
